Team behind Soda City launching new vintage market at Columbia’s BullStreet District

COLUMBIA—A new monthly antique and vintage market will be coming to Columbia this November. Created by the award-winning team behind Soda City, Bullseye Vintage will be held every third Sunday year-round starting Nov. 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The market will be found at 2142 Boyce St., directly in front of Segra Park in Columbia’s BullStreet District. The open-air market will showcase antique dealers, vintage clothing vendors and retro-inspired makers, a press release stated. Stephen Ruxton, market manager for Soda City, said that after the popular weekly Main Street market ended, many vintage/antique vendors would pack up their cars to travel to a different city for another market. This inspired the idea for the new market. “Bullseye is creating another space for them that’s local and allowing them to thrive in another location in a district that is really up and developing,” he said. BullStreet District was picked due to its growing presence with food, retail and residents. “There’s a real need these vendors to have another place to sell,” Erin Curtis, CEO and co-owner of Soda City, said. “I think BullStreet is the perfect place for this specific event as an antique and vintage market.” The idea has been talked about for years, and as Soda City’s relationships with vendors have been built up, Bullseye was able to happen, Curtis said. “There’s an immediate sort of trust in this new market that will hopefully do it right and make it something that’s very good for (the vendors’) business,” Curtis said. Vintage apparel has also become more popular within the last five years, creating another opportunity for the market, Curtis added.
