Key Points: Urban Meyer will have a special role at Saturday’s game The Buckeyes have a date with Penn State Meyer’s record in Columbus was sensational The Ohio State Buckeyes’ 2025 schedule was predicted to be one of the tougher ones in the nation considering a trio of marquee games against Texas and Penn State at home and against the Michigan Wolverines on the road. Texas and Penn State joined the Buckeyes in the preseason top five of the AP Top 25 poll and have since fallen on hard times with Texas ranked 20th and Penn State out of the rankings. On Tuesday, Ohio State University made an announcement for Saturday’s game involving former coach Urban Meyer, who works for Fox Sports and has been a mainstay at Buckeyes game since his retirement from coaching. Meyer Gains New Job for Saturday’s Game Meyer will be tasked with ringing the Buckeyes’ victory bell against Penn State during Saturday’s game according to an announcement made by Ohio State football’s official X account. “THE Bell Ringer vs. Penn State will be none other than National Championship winning Hall of Fame Head Coach Urban Meyer,” the page wrote Tuesday. “@OhioStateFB | #GoBucks,” it added. Meyer, a graduate of the University of Cincinnati where he played defensive back and, a disciple of legendary coach Earl Bruce, finished with an 83-9 record as head coach at Ohio State, his highest winning percentage outside of a 22-2 record with the Utah Utes. Buckeyes Favored vs. Nittany Lions The Buckeyes favored by more than 20 points over the Penn State Nittany Lions heading into Saturday’s game at the Horseshoe with fans expecting a blowout victory over their longtime foes. The Nittany Lions’ season has been a disaster including the firing of former coach James Franklin and a freefall out of the polls after four straight losses to Oregon, UCLA, Northwestern and Iowa. The Nittany Lions are now 3-4 on the season and will attempt to claw their way back into contention for a bowl game in Columbus starting at noon ET on Saturday against a familiar foe in Columbus.
