Cowboys vs. Broncos, Packers vs. Steelers predictions: NFL Week 8 odds, picks

Post sports gambling editor/producer and digital sports editor Matt Ehalt is back for his second season in the NFL Bettor’s Guide. Cowboys (+3.5) over BRONCOS We successfully backed the Giants to cover against the Broncos, and we’ll go back to that well this week. Not only has Denver not covered in back-to-back weeks, but a trend is emerging. The supposed vaunted Denver defense thrived against bad quarterbacks (Cam Ward, Jake Browning, Justin Fields) and limited Jalen Hurts, but had problems against better-performing starters in Daniel Jones, Justin Herbert, and Jaxson Dart. In comes Dak Prescott, who is playing about as well as anyone in the sport right now. The Cowboys have the weapons to put up points on a Denver team that rarely wins in blowout fashion. While Dallas’ defense is a concern, the Broncos’ offense has not played well in seven of its last eight quarters. Getting the hook is a nice benefit here in backing a Dallas team that has the chance to outright pull the upset at Mile High. STEELERS (+3) over Packers We like the opportunity to back a motivated Aaron Rodgers at home as an underdog in what should be quite the “Sunday Night Football” matchup. Rodgers has made a career out of proving people wrong, and you can be sure he wants to end his career with a 1-0 record against the Packers. Betting on the NFL? Green Bay is the better team and may exploit a struggling Steelers defense, but the Packers haven’t been blowing out opponents in recent weeks. Add in the rest advantage Pittsburgh has after playing last Thursday, and the situation is ripe for the Steelers to keep this game within a field goal, if not win outright. 2025 record: 4-9-1Last week: 1-1; Giants (W); Dolphins (L) Why Trust New York Post Betting Matt Ehalt has been picking against the spread since his childhood days when he entered his father’s newspaper pool and even took the top prize on more than one occasion.
