However, not all fish are beneficial for health. Sea fish are the most advantageous, being low in saturated fat and rich in protein. Salmon, mackerel, and tuna are particularly good, as they are full of omega-3 fatty acids. These nutrients lower triglyceride levels in the blood and increase good cholesterol (HDL), which is crucial for heart health. Consuming fish reduces the risk of heart disease. Children, the elderly, and even those with stomach problems can safely eat sea fish. Fish is rich in vitamin A, vitamin D, phosphorus, magnesium, selenium, and iodine. It is also abundant in protein, serving as a mine of essential minerals and vitamins for the body. Eating fish boosts immunity, strengthens bones, and keeps the skin healthy. Many people consume small fish, under the misconception that small fish or tiger fish are more nutritious. This belief lacks scientific basis. Tiger fish (farm fish) are often raised using hormone injections, which are harmful to the body. Tilapia is one such fish. Tilapia is particularly harmful, high in fat, and contributes to increased cholesterol and heart disease. It accumulates a chemical called dibutylene, which can cause asthma, obesity, and allergies. Furthermore, it contains a toxic substance called dioxin, increasing cancer risk. Tiger fish consume industrial and agricultural waste found in the water, rendering them highly polluted. The mercury levels in these fish are intolerable for the human body, potentially causing nervous system issues and brain damage. Pregnant women and children should especially avoid such fish. Uncontrolled uric acid levels can lead to arthritis and kidney stones. Excessive consumption of alcohol, sweets, fructose, red meat, and certain fish (e.g., tuna) increases uric acid. Although sea fish are generally safe, they should be eaten in moderation. Experts suggest opting for sea fish such as salmon and mackerel instead of freshwater varieties like tilapia. Choosing the right type of fish is crucial. Health experts recommend consuming fish two to three times a week, ensuring it is sourced from unpolluted waters. They also caution against eating tilapia on an empty stomach, as it may contain harmful chemicals that could pose serious health risks.
