The Toronto Blue Jays made some incredible World Series history against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Game 1 was blown open by the American League powerhouse as Addison Barger slugged the first pinch-hit grand slam in World Series history to make the score 9-2 in the bottom of the sixth inning. The nine runs scored in the dominant inning by the Blue Jays became the most runs scored by a team in any World Series inning in 57 years. Emmet Sheehan replaced him and allowed a single, walked the next batter, and allowed another single to make the score 5-2. Anthony Banda replaced him and allowed the grand slam to Barger, allowing the Blue Jays lead to balloon to 9-2. LA did their best to try and keep the game competitive in the seventh inning as Tommy Edman earned a leadoff walk. Superstar Shohei Ohtani launched a two-run shot to cut the lead down to 11-4, but the momentum still appeared to be on the Blue Jays’ side in a raucous Rogers Centre. The Dodgers are looking to become baseball’s first back-to-back champions in a quarter-century, as the Blue Jays hope to win their first World Series title since 1993.
