What Is NBA’s Streaming Price? Details of Amazon, NBC, ESPN & Other Platforms’ Services

The new NBA season is finally here, and there’s good news for fans. You can stream every single game this year, but it might come at a steep price. The action tips off Tuesday with Kevin Durant in Houston colors, taking on his former team, the defending champion OKC Thunder. Before you get ready to tune in on your TV, laptop, or phone, it’s worth checking the numbers because watching every game in the United States could cost more than you expect. For the first time since 2002, the NBA will be shown across multiple networks, and that makes this season different. Coverage will come through ESPN, Amazon Prime, NBC, and Peacock after Adam Silver and his team signed a massive 11-year, $75 billion deal earlier this year. It’s a huge win for the league, but fans will feel the cost. Let’s take a closer look at what it could actually cost to watch every game this season. Long-time partner TNT is out, and Prime Video, along with Peacock, are taking over this season. While Prime has streamed NFL and WNBA games before, the NBA is a whole new level. That’s why they’ve brought in Ian Eagle and Kevin Harlan, two of the most familiar voices in basketball, to call every game besides Stan Van Gundy. On top of that, a Prime subscription gives you access to this year’s NBA Cup, the Play-In Tournament, and select playoff games. But how much is Amazon Prime Video going to cost you? Well, there are several plans to choose from. The lowest subscription starts from $9/month, which will feature ad breaks. Now, given that the season is set to span across almost 8 months, you’re total would come up to around $72. That’s not too much if this weren’t the only subscription you’re going to make, but that’s not the case. Now moving on to NBC, which is set to make a long-awaited return. And they are making a big return. Their lineup includes Pacers legend Reggie Miller, newly inducted Hall of Famer Carmelo Anthony, T-Mac, and even Michael Jordan as a special contributor. On top of that, NBC will bring viewers “Coast 2 Coast Tuesday” doubleheaders on TV, giving fans plenty of high-profile games to enjoy throughout the season. This season the NBCUniversal is set to maximize the subscription service. Peacock is set to feature Monday night games, and most weeks will have two or three exclusives stacked up. However, Peacock subscriptions that include live sports start at $10.99/month with ads. However, you’ll have to dish out another $11-17 for the Peacock exclusives. ESPN NBA streaming price & service While NBC features the likes of ‘His Highness’, ESPN is set to have the most fans stuck on their screens with its iconic lineup. The broadcasting network is the new home of “Inside the NBA” with Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal, Kenny Smith, and Ernie Johnson. If that’s not going to grab the attention of the fans, we don’t know what will. Nonetheless, ESPN comes with a pay TV package or a subscription to ESPN Unlimited that’ll cost you around $29.99/month. Now, again, that’s not bad if you’re just buying a single subscription. However, if you calculate how much all the subscriptions we’ve already mentioned, “It’ll cost a total of $650 this season to watch every NBA game across all services, per @Sportico.” Now, that’s a steep amount and will probably infuriate many fans, and we don’t blame them. In fact, even several people have taken up this issue on social media, but we’ll have to wait and watch there it makes any impact or not. NBA League Pass subscription price & value The NBA regular season tips off Tuesday and will run until mid-April, with every team facing each other in every city. If you want to catch every game, the NBA League Pass is a must. Any matchup not shown on the league’s national broadcasters can only be streamed through the League Pass. Not every fan will need it, but if you support the Nets, Raptors, Wizards, Jazz, or Pelicans, getting a pass is a smart move to follow all the action. That’s because some teams will only appear on national television twice this season. Even fans of other teams might need the League Pass, since the most nationally televised games for any team are 34. So how much does it cost? The NBA League Pass is $109.99, which breaks down to about $16.99 a month. The League Pass Premium is $159.99, or $24.99 a month. That covers streaming, but what if you’re looking for other ways to watch the games? Other streaming platforms & cable alternatives Now, apart from ESPN, Amazon Prime Video, NBC & Peacock, and the NBA League Pass, there are also cable alternatives that could help you watch all the games live. But again, you might be wondering how much that could cost, right? Well, here’s how much it could cost and what cable, satellite, and streaming options you could go for: Fubo Hulu Live TV YouTube TV DirecTV’s “Choice” package Dish’s “America’s Top 120+” package Xfinity’s “Sports & News” TV + internet plan Verizon Fios’ “More Fios” plan Sling’s “Orange & Blue” plan with its “Sports Extra add-on
