The Telangana Excise and Prohibition Department has received a total of 95,137 applications for 2,620 liquor shops across the State. The selection of applicants for shop licences will be conducted through a lottery system on Monday. Officials said the draw would begin simultaneously in all districts at 11 a.m. under the supervision of district collectors and in the presence of all the applicants, ensuring transparency in the allotment process. According to officials, the number of applications varies widely across districts. Hyderabad received 3,201 applications for 82 shops, Secunderabad 3,022 for 97 shops, and Saroornagar 7,845 for 134 shops. Malkajgiri saw 5,168 applications for 88 shops, while Medchal recorded 6,063 for 114 shops and Vikarabad topped the list with 8,536 applications for 100 shops. Other districts also witnessed significant participation, including Khammam with 4,430 applications for 122 shops, Sangareddy with 4,432 for 101 shops, Nalgonda with 4,906 for 155 shops, and Warangal Urban with 3,175 for 65 shops.
