Elaine Hendrix was noticeably missing from “Dancing With the Stars” Halloween Night. During the Week 7, Oct. 28 episode of the dancing competition show, it was revealed that the “Parent Trap” actor was hospitalized after sustaining an injury during rehearsals. In her pre-performance package, it showed that while rehearsing Hendrix was feeling pain in her ribs. It only intensified when they were on the ballroom floor practicing their routine. “Elaine and I were dancing and all of a sudden, Elaine kind of froze and said she can’t move and she can’t breathe and something happened with her rib,” her partner Alan Bersten said to the camera. “I feel like my muscle is twisted under my ribs,” Hendrix said visibly in pain. Bersten added, “She’s in so much pain that I don’t know if we’re gonna dance tonight. It’s just a lot of unknowns right now. I just hope this isn’t the end of Elaine’s dream to dance again.” The pair was set to perform a tango to “Bad to the Bone” by 2WEI and Bri Bryant. According to “DWTS” rules, they would be judged on their dress rehearsal taped performance. Co-host Alfonso Ribeiro then shared with viewers that Hendrix had been cleared by the doctors to stay in the competition, “If she survives tonight's elimination.” “Since she can’t dance tonight, our rules state that she should be judged by you at home and scored by our judges on the basis of her last full rehearsal,” he said, before the routine aired. After receiving critiques and well wishes from the judges, they received a 32 out of 40. Sharing an update on Hendrix’s health, Bersten said that she is “determined to come back and perform next week” if they advance. Hendrix had also posted an update on her Instagram from her hospital bed. The actor said she injured her ribs during last week’s Wicked Night “Defying Gravity” routine. “Halloween is my favorite, and I’m devastated. 💔 I was beyond excited to share what we had worked so hard on, although you’ll see a version of it,” she captioned her video. “With your support, I’ll be back in the ballroom next week. I want nothing more. I’m sending all my love to Alan and the entire Dancing with the Stars team — (including @lisaannwalter. of course, she’s with me).” She also thanked everyone for their love and support. In her video, she also expressed her love of dance, saying, “I want to dance, I want to keep doing this.”
