State govt. removes BU syndicate member

The State government removed Bangalore University syndicate member Ramesh Babu P. following allegations by the faculties and students. On October 10, a large number of students, along with faculty members, staged a protest on the Bangalore University’s Jnana Bharati campus alleging that Babu was misusing Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar’s name and verbally abusing the faculty members. They accused him of being unnecessarily involved in the administrative and academic decisions, including the appointment of guest faculties, though syndicate members were not allowed in that process. Following the massive protest, the Higher Education Department had gathered information and based on the report, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah issued a note to the department to remove Ramesh Babu from the position.
