Samsung Health is finally getting serious about workouts

Samsung Health is the go-to app for Samsung and Galaxy Watch users for health tracking. It logs all your health metrics and helps you track your workouts. Unlike Apple and Google's Pixel Watch, Samsung Health lacked guided workouts for a complete experience. The company is now solving that missing piece of the puzzle by partnering with iFIT to offer premium workouts in Samsung Health. Fitbit and Apple already offer guided workouts with their fitness service. Apple has its own production team and trainers for Fitness+. Instead of taking a similar approach, Samsung has partnered with iFIT to offer guided workouts to Galaxy Watch users. iFIT is a "global leader in connected fitness and interactive content" and offers premium guided workouts led by certified trainers. Premium guided workouts in Samsung Health will appear on the Fitness tab. If you use a Galaxy Watch, it can display key vital metrics, such as your workout duration, heart rate, and calories burned, in real time. iFIT will provide guided workouts in Samsung Health across seven categories: high-intensity interval training (HIIT), Pilates, yoga, strength, recovery, barre, and mindfulness. Samsung Health joins the subscription club Samsung Health has always been free to use. But this will change with the integration of iFIT's premium guided workouts. You must pay $9.99 per month or $100 per year to unlock the full suite of workout videos and access all future content. The pricing is similar to what Fitbit and Apple charge for their guided workouts. Samsung will offer one free on-demand video for each workout category every month for free though. That's a total of seven premium guided workout videos every month — enough to get you hooked on the service if you like the experience. Samsung is bundling some discounts for new Galaxy device customers. If you purchase an eligible Galaxy phone directly from Samsung.com, you'll get free access to iFIT guided workouts for 30 days. And if you buy the Galaxy Buds 3 Pro or the Galaxy Watch 8 or Ultra, you'll gain access to premium workouts for three and six months, respectively. It's unclear if existing Galaxy phones and Watch owners will also be eligible for this perk.
