Packers Have Bad News for Pass Rusher Before Playing Eagles

The Green Bay Packers are set to find out where they stand in the NFC when they host the Philadelphia Eagles at Lambeau Field on "Monday Night Football." Green Bay struggled to rush Panthers quarterback Bryce Young in the defeat, sacking the third-year quarterback one time. For the first time in his career, star defensive end Micah Parsons did not record a quarterback pressure in Week 9. Per Matt Schneidman of The Athletic, Green Bay is ruling out Lukas Van Ness against Philadelphia due to a foot injury. He did not practice on Thursday or Friday. “It did not heal as quickly as we thought," Packers head coach Matt LaFleur told reporters on Saturday. The Packers believe Van Ness will return sooner rather than later, but Week 10 will be the fourth game in a row the pass rusher has missed. Vann Ness injured his foot in Green Bay's 27-18 win over the Cincinnati Bengals on Oct. 12. The next day after Van Ness suffered the injury, LaFleur suggested the issue wasn't serious. "We definitely avoided something serious, but how long he’ll be out remains to be seen," LaFleur said. "I think he's playing pretty well. He's been impactful, playing physical. If he's unable to go, it's definitely going to be a loss." The Packers chose not to put Van Ness on injured reserve, but he's managed to miss four games while being a member of the active roster. Van Ness has appeared in five games this season. The 2023 first-round pick has recorded six tackles and 1.5 sacks through his first five games. He'll be missed against the mobile Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts. Following Monday night's game against the Eagles, the Packers will travel to play the New York Giants in Week 11. Van Ness' situation will be one to monitor before Green Bay plays New York.
