BREWER — In recognition of Veterans Day on Nov. 11, Northern Light Health proudly supports veterans and their families through collaborations that foster career opportunities in healthcare. By collaborating with organizations such as Hire-A-Vet and Boots2Roots, Northern Light Health is showing our commitment to the inclusion of veterans within our workforce. Every fall, the Maine Hire-A-Vet campaign unites the state with the goal of hiring 100 veterans and their family members in just 100 days. Northern Light Health collaborates with this essential campaign, and Northern Light Health staff are on the planning committee. This initiative, in collaboration with the Maine Department of Labor, sees the Northern Light Health Talent Acquisition Team participating in four, in-person Maine Hire-A-Vet Campaign events to connect veterans with fulfilling career pathways. The last of these four events will be held on Thursday, Nov. 13 at the University of Maine in Farmington from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. To learn more about Hire-A-Vet, please visit Work Source Maine Virtual CareerCenter at myworksourcemaine.gov. Northern Light Health encourages veterans and transitioning service members to establish their lives and careers in Maine through an ongoing initiative with Boots2Roots, a non-profit organization working with active-duty military members 12 to 18 months before they leave service as well as veterans to help them find meaningful work in Maine. The Talent Acquisition Team connects with veterans to explore various healthcare career opportunities. For more information about Boots2Roots, please check out their website at boots2roots.org. “Through the Hire-A-Vet campaign and the Boots2Root initiative, Northern Light Health encourages veterans and their families to consider careers in healthcare, which is essentially a way to support and serve our communities,” says Erin Hammond, SHRM-SCP, CCSP, talent acquisition specialist.
