NJ men arrested in probe of alleged terror attack in Michigan

Two New Jersey men have reportedly been arrested in connection with an investigation linked to a foiled terror attack in Michigan over Halloween weekend. One of them, a 19-year-old Montclair man, was arrested Tuesday morning at Newark Liberty International Airport, sources familiar with the investigation told NBC New York. The other man, also from Montclair, was arrested Wednesday morning. The arrests of two men, identified by multiple sources as Tomas Kaan Jimenez-Guzal and Milo Sederat, came just days after federal authorities filed terrorism-related charges against two 20-year-old men from Michigan for allegedly plotting terror attacks at LGBTQ+ bars in the Detroit area. Sederat, believed to be a Montclair High School graduate, had allegedly been in communication with the Michigan men, sources told ABC News. One of the two men arrested this week was taken into custody by members of the Joint Terrorism Task Force at Newark’s Terminal B food court. He’d reportedly arrived at the airport early on Tuesday and was expected to fly out at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday, two unnamed law enforcement officials told NBC News. Officials said he allegedly expressed interest in flying to Turkey, and possibly later to Syria, to train with ISIS. According to the sources, he allegedly planned to leave the U.S. on Nov. 17, but is believed to have moved up his travel plans following a raid at a home and storage facility in Detroit last week. That raid was part of an investigation into a foiled “violent attack over Halloween weekend,” FBI Director Kash Patel said Oct. 31, as local reports showed federal investigators entering at least two residences in Dearborn, about seven miles west of downtown Detroit. Both men are expected to appear in federal court in Newark later Wednesday. Officials have not offered details about the charges against them.
