Nicola Sturgeon spent more than £6,000 on new clothes and ‘styling’ as she promoted her memoir. In an update to the Holyrood register of interests, the former First Minister declared the spending on ‘my book launch and tour’. She said her company met the costs of £6,213 for ‘the provision by a third party of clothing, styling and personal items’. Ms Sturgeon also said travel and accommodation costs in connection with promoting her book cost between £5,001 and £10,000. She said these costs were met by publisher Pan Macmillan. The company has previously agreed to pay her £300,000 for her memoir, Frankly. MSPs must declare ‘any salary, wage, share of profits, fee, expenses and other monetary benefit or benefit in kind’ in their register of interest at Holyrood. Tory MSP Annie Wells said: ‘This of course comes against a backdrop of the former First Minister not having to pay the same high taxes she imposed on the rest of us as a result of setting up this company. 'She should have spent more time focusing on the issues facing her constituents, rather than touring the country trying to defend her legacy.’ Ms Sturgeon set up her company in 2023 to deal with her earnings from outside Holyrood. Since the start of August, the Glasgow Southside MSP has been on a tour of TV studios, concert halls and book festivals to publicise her memoirs. Her spokesman said: ‘While the increasingly irrelevant Tories continue to obsess over Nicola, she will continue to speak her mind and use her voice to stand up for what she believes in.’
