It is never too early to get excited for Christmas and Caerphilly has plenty of reasons to celebrate. As well as its annual events throughout November and December, including Christmas Markets, River of Light Lantern-Making Workshops and Caerphilly on Ice, a new Mini Festival Fair will be taking place. The fair will run alongside Caerphilly’s Christmas lights switch-on, River of Light Lantern Parade and firework display on November 21 for an incredibly festive and fun day out. Here are the highlights for the festive season across the region - Caerphilly Lights Switch On and more Caerphilly town centre turns on the Christmas cheer on November 21, 2025, when a new Mini Festive Fair will set the stage for the evening’s celebrations. Expect seasonal stalls, street entertainment and a lively build-up as the lights countdown approaches. The lantern parade is due to start at 6pm from St Martin’s School, along Cardiff Road toThe Twyn car park. A fireworks finale is due to be at 6.45pm above Caerphilly Castle. Craft and create lanterns for the parade in a series of drop-in workshops at The Twyn Community Centre on November 8, 9, 15 and 16 from 10am to 5pm. All ages are welcome to make something , with friendly guidance on hand. You’re welcome to join the parade whether or not you attended the workshops. Caerphilly Christmas Market On November 29, find a wide array of stalls filling the town with the aroma of street food and mulled wine, plus street theatre and funfair attractions to keep the atmosphere buzzing. Explore the Caerphilly Artisan Market at The Twyn Community Centre, Crafty Legs’ Craft Fair and Market at the Cenotaph, and Castle Court Craft and Food Market within Castle Court Shopping Centre. Together, they create a town-wide trail that pairs perfectly with Caerphilly’s mix of independents and familiar brands. Bargoed Christmas Market and Parade The town centre will feature festive stalls, entertainment and funfair rides, creating a warm welcome for residents and visitors alike on December 6. There will be seasonal performances, with the annual Music and Light Parade to round off the celebration in style. With a strong line-up of local traders, it’s a small town that punches above its weight for choice. Ystrad Mynach Christmas Market The first of the county’s market season takes place on November 15 from 9am to 5pm. Discover handmade gifts, artisan foods, jewellery, decorations and festive bakes, from around 40 traders, ideal for early present hunting. Family highlights include small funfair rides around the event and roaming seasonal characters. A community stage will host local schools, choirs, bands and singers throughout the day to keep spirits high. There will be a Santa’s Grotto and the Christmas lights switch-on is at 5pm. Blackwood Christmas Market Taking place on November 22, it will bring a bustling line-up of food and craft stalls alongside the town’s independents and high-street names. Street theatre, festive characters and a mix of funfair rides promise plenty for younger visitors. The main stage will showcase local groups, dancers and singers throughout the day. As with other town centre events, admission is free. Caerphilly on Ice The winter favourite Caerphilly on Ice is set to add extra sparkle to the season, offering an atmospheric rink experience for friends and families. As the season approaches, look out for operational details and session times from organisers. Set against the backdrop of the castle, with various attractions, it will bring seasonal fun and holiday cheer. The dates will be Thursday 20th Nov 2025 to Sunday 4th Jan 2026.
