High wind watches have been issued for 10 New Jersey counties with up to 60 mph gusts possible Wednesday evening into Thursday morning. The watches issued Tuesday afternoon by the National Weather Service include Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Hunterdon, Morris, Passaic, Somerset, Sussex, Union and Warren counties. Forecasters predict northwest winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts reaching 50 to 60 mph. “Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are possible,” the weather service said. “Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.” The strongest winds are expected to develop late Wednesday night.
