The Association of Mobile Money and Bank Agents in Nigeria (AMMBAN) is set to celebrate ten years of advancing financial inclusion and grassroots banking services across the country. This is even as AMMBAN is set to hold its 9th National Conference and 10th Anniversary Celebration on November 12 and 13, 2025, in Gombe state. The event, themed around progress, partnership, and empowerment, is expected to bring together mobile money agents, fintech partners, regulators, law enforcement agencies, and financial institutions to reflect on a decade of achievements in driving Nigeria’s financial inclusion goals. Since its establishment, AMMBAN has been instrumental in bridging the gap between the formal financial sector and millions of unbanked Nigerians. Its members, who operate as agents for banks and mobile money operators, have expanded financial access to underserved areas, enabling digital payments, savings, and financial transactions in both rural and urban communities. Oti, who was represented by Alhaji Yusuf Adeyemo, the acting vice president, said AMMBAN’s ten-year journey is a story of resilience and innovation, driven by ordinary Nigerians who have become key players in the country’s financial services ecosystem. “Our agents have been the foot soldiers of financial inclusion, bringing banking closer to the people and supporting the Central Bank’s cashless policy. What we have achieved in ten years shows that agency banking is not just a business, it is a national service,” he said. As part of the build-up to the Gombe celebration, AMMBAN announced a new welfare initiative for its member’s through a strategic partnership with Buildbay, a property and investment solutions firm. Through this collaboration, members will have the opportunity to acquire land and earn passive income, marking a major step in AMMBAN’s efforts to empower its members beyond their daily business operations. “We are opening a new chapter in AMMBAN’s history, one that goes beyond agency banking to touch the very lives of our members. Through our partnership with Buildbay, we want our agents to become proud landowners and investors in their own future,” Oti stated. To demonstrate its commitment, AMMBAN pledged to financially support the first 200 registered members who express interest in the Buildbay initiative, contributing a portion of the payment as a show of solidarity. “We want our members to know that when we say we care about your welfare, we mean it,” Oti added. Speaking on the conference, Oti said the Gombe conference will serve as a platform for dialogue, recognition, and renewal, an opportunity for members and stakeholders to assess the progress made in ten years and discuss strategies for the next decade of inclusive growth. “Our 9th National Conference and 10th Anniversary Celebration will be a landmark event, one that will showcase our collective achievements, renew our sense of purpose, and strengthen our unity as the voice of mobile money and bank agents across Nigeria,” he said.
