On November 6, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received John Jovanovich, President of the U.S. Export–Import Bank (EXIM), as part of his official business program during his working visit to Washington, D.C., the presidential press service reported. According to the statement, EXIM is the official export credit agency of the U.S. government, providing insurance, guarantees, and loan financing to support American companies in their international operations. During the meeting, the sides discussed prospects for expanding cooperation in financing large-scale projects in priority sectors such as energy, critical minerals, transport, agriculture, IT, and other key industries under a joint program prepared with the bank. Special attention was paid to EXIM’s role in modernizing Uzbekistan’s aircraft fleet and facilitating the delivery of Boeing aircraft. The parties agreed to continue practical cooperation and to develop a long-term partnership roadmap, the statement said. At the conclusion of the meeting, an agreement on financing joint projects was exchanged between Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade and the U.S. Export–Import Bank in the presence of President Mirziyoyev. Previously, it was reported that on November 5, President Mirziyoyev received U.S. Senator Steve Daines, Co-Chair of the Senate Central Asia Caucus, at his temporary residence in Washington, D.C.
