AgenciesSatara Doctor case In the ongoing probe into the death of a 28-year-old doctor from Phaltan subdistrict hospital, the family of the arrested techie has alleged that he was not hiding, but surrendered voluntarily. The Satara police had arrested the techie along with a police sub-inspector on Saturday in connection with the alleged rape and abetment of suicide case.The techie’s brother and sister told The Times of India that reports suggesting he was caught from a farmhouse in Pune were incorrect. “We had called him and told him to surrender. His social media records and call details have been given to the police. My brother never called the doctor. Instead, it was the doctor who used to call him repeatedly and harass him,” the brother said.Doctor was a tenant at their house, family claimsThe family said the doctor had been living in their rented house for a year, paying Rs 4,000 a month. The techie’s younger sister said the doctor became close to their family while treating her brother during his dengue recovery.Also Read: Techie, police officer arrest in Satara Doctor suicide case“Last month, my brother came to Phaltan to recover from dengue infection. The doctor treated him, and they exchanged numbers. Around 15 days ago, she proposed marriage to him. He turned down the proposal. During Diwali, she seemed tense, but we thought it was work-related. She was like family to us, and our mother treated her as her own daughter,” the sister said.Live EventsTechie told police he was being pressuredPolice sources said the arrested techie told investigators that the doctor had pressured him to marry her and continue a physical relationship.“A large number of chats and call recordings between the accused and the deceased have been found in which she is speaking about stress, pressure, etc,” said a police officer.Also Read: Real-world 'Avatar' in Kenya starts US, China contestAfter the doctor’s death, a note was found on her palm naming the techie and a police sub-inspector as responsible for her suicide. Based on the note and digital evidence, an FIR was registered under Sections 64 (rape) and 108 (abetment of suicide) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).Police continue probe into relationships and evidenceA senior police officer said the sub-inspector, who hails from Beed, the same district as the doctor, is also under investigation for any prior connection with her.Satara Superintendent of Police Tushar Doshi said, “A woman ended her life, and there might be some truth to her allegations. We are trying to establish everything. It is a challenging case as she had not complained earlier.
