Michigan Gets Crushing Injury Update on Star RB Justice Haynes

The Michigan Wolverines captured their third straight win and seventh victory of the season in a hard-fought game against the Purdue Boilermakers on Saturday, but they got some bad news the day after the final whistle blew. Star running back Justice Haynes, who suffered a foot injury the week prior in a win over in-state rival Michigan State, could potentially miss the remainder of the season. Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports reported the unfortunate update on Sunday via social media. "Michigan star running back Justice Haynes is set to undergo surgery to repair a foot injury, sources tell [CBS Sports]," Zenitz wrote. "Recovery timetable is TBD but the current hope is to get him back at some point this season. Leads [Power 4 conference] running backs with an average of 122 yards per game." He rushed the football 25 times for 185 yards and three scores on a whopping 7.4 yards per carry average. Marshall has now tallied 729 rushing yards and eight touchdowns this season and has made clear that while Haynes is obviously an elite player in the Big Ten, the Wolverines can still run the football effectively out of scheme and behind a quality offensive line even without Haynes as the primary ball-carrier. Now ranked 21st in the country, Michigan has back-to-back road games against Northwestern and Maryland before hosting the top-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes at the Big House on November 29 in the regular-season finale.
