Bahamian racing phenom Lenox Lockhart came away with a ninth-place finish at the 2025 Race Rotax RMC US Trophy Final at New Castle Motorsports Park in New Castle, Indiana, on Sunday. Lockhart, representing Velocity Racing and Team Sodi, entered competition in the Mini Max event, and despite having some difficulties on the track, he placed in the top 10 with a time of 17:38.332. He had an average speed of 49.72 miles per hour (mph) and recorded a best lap time of 1:12.425 on his 12th lap. The 10-year-old racer gave his assessment of his latest performance. “I feel like we did have some trouble with the kart, but we started to get it up to the final,” he said. “I think our performance was pretty good, but we spun on the second or third lap at the start of the race, and I had to make my way up to ninth.” Costa Rican Samuel Chaverri emerged as the victor with a time of 17:15.789. Great Britain’s Arthur Pharoah finished second overall in 17:19.469, and American Holden Myers placed third in 17:19.548. Lockhart spoke about his resilience in the final event after falling back to 21st position earlier in the race. “Honestly, I just tried to focus as much as I could and tried to catch up to the leaders so I could try to beat them, but we didn’t because there were a lot of karts in front of me that I had to get through, and it took a long time,” he said. “I didn’t have enough time to catch the leaders. I think that I will just keep pushing and trying to get as many wins and championships as I can. We just have to learn from our mistakes and make sure we do not do it again.” Over the last few months, Lockhart has earned a number of first-place finishes. Most notably, he won the United States Pro Kart Series (USPKS) Micro Swift title at the 2025 USPKS Indiana Grand Prix, becoming the first Bahamian driver to win a major national karting title. Migueal Lockhart, his father, credited his son’s mental strength in recovering after facing adversity. “There was a lot of great competition there. He had a little adversity, but that is a part of racing. It is not for everybody and if you are not mentally strong, which he is, you can give up before the final lap starts, and he never did, even when he spun. It just speaks to him as a driver and as a young man to show how much resilience he has.” Lockhart is now preparing to travel to Las Vegas, Nevada, for the 2025 ROK Cup USA event set for October 29 to November 2. He will then compete at the 2025 SuperNationals 28, set for November 12-16 in Las Vegas.
