KP Govt launches crackdown on drug suppliers to students

PESHAWAR: The Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Department, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has launched an emergency province-wide operation against the menace of ice drug addiction. In one of the significant actions under this campaign, a group involved in supplying Ice to students of educational institutions in Peshawar has been apprehended. Under the Zero Tolerance Policy of the Provincial Minister for Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control, Syed Fakhar Jehan and in compliance with his recent directives, the department, under the supervision of Secretary Excise Khalid Ilyas and Director General Abdul Haleem Khan, has intensified operations across the province to curb the spread of narcotics, particularly Ice. In one such successful operation, the Excise Intelligence Bureau (EIB) team, led by Provincial In-charge Bureau of Intelligence and Investigation Saud Khan Gandapur and Excise and Taxation Officer (Counter Narcotics Operations) Majid Khan, along with Inspector Fakhar Alam Khan and Sub-Inspector Hamza Sharoom Khan, conducted a raid near Shahkas Madrassa, Hayatabad. The team apprehended three accused persons named Tariq, Ibrahim and Saud Rasheed, who were reportedly supplying Ice to students. A total of 500 grams of Ice was recovered from their possession.
