Giddey was guarding Cavaliers forward De’Andre Hunter on the three point line, when Hunter crossed over from right to left before executing a quick hesitation and then unleashing a second devastating crossover. The left to right dribble froze Giddey’s ankles in place as the Aussie’s momentum sent him crashing hard to the canvas. Hunter then took the open lane to the basket and slammed home a powerful dunk to cut the margin back to five points halfway through the third term. “Oh he dropped Giddey and he hammers it home,” one commentator proclaimed. The Cavaliers bench exploded as fans in the crowd were left in disbelief at what they had just witnessed unfold. Watch the nasty moment in the video player above Giddey rolls over on top of his right ankle. The Aussie hit the deck after Hunter’s move. Footage of the nasty move quickly whipped around social media with multiple posts garnering hundreds of thousands of views aas fans turned the Aussie star into an instant meme. One wrote on Reddit: “This is the cleanest breaker I’ve seen in a LONG TIME. He may actually be injured too.” A second added on X: “De’Andre Hunter might have literally broken Josh Giddey’s ankles.” A third posted: “Bro Giddey might need to file a missing person report after that … Hunter sent him to another ZIP code.” As Hunter and his Cavaliers teammates celebrated the sheer brutality of the act, Giddey was left down and in pain on the hardwood. The Aussie eventually got back to his feet but was left limping in pain as he slowly hobbled his way back to the bench. He was taken straight back to the locker room to be assessed before he returned to the game with a little over three minutes left in the term. After holding a 16-point advantage at halftime, the Cavaliers took control of the contest and outscored the Bulls by 22-points in the second half to claim the 128-122 victory. Giddey finished the contest with 15 points, nine rebounds and six assists in 33 minutes of game time. The loss makes it two in a row for the Bulls and drops them to 6-3 on the season and has them sitting in fifth place on the standings. Despite the recent losing streak, Giddey has taken the NBA world by storm to kick off the new season. Giddey has been on a tear to start the season. Giddey entered the Chicago record books last week when he became the first Bulls player to record back-to-back triple-doubles since the legendary Michael Jordan.
