Is Jake Paul vs. Gervonta Davis canceled?

The fight between Jake Paul and Gervonta Davis, originally scheduled for Friday, Nov. 14, has been canceled. The event, which was set to take place at Miami’s Kaseya Center, was going to be livestreamed on Netflix. The streaming platform released a joint statement with fight promoter Most Valuable Promotions announcing the cancelation. “Our team has worked closely with all parties to navigate this situation responsibly,” Most Valuable Promotions CEO Nakiska Bidarian said in the statement, which was issued via Instagram on Monday, Nov. 3. “While we will not be moving forward with this event, our plan still remains for Jake Paul to headline an event on Netflix in 2025. Details regarding a new date, location, Jake’s opponent, and additional bouts will be shared as soon as they are finalized. We thank Netflix, the Kaseya Center, and the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino for their partnership.” The statement also noted that fans who purchased their tickets via Ticketmaster will get an automatic refund within 2-3 weeks. Fans who purchased through secondary markets, such as SeatGeek and StubHub, should contact those sites directly. While Netflix and Most Valuable Promotions didn’t share a reason for the fight’s cancelation, the decision comes one week after Davis was accused of domestic violence in a civil lawsuit. Davis’ ex-girlfriend Courtney Rossel accused him of battery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping, and intentional infliction of emotional distress, per ESPN. Rossel alleged that Davis stormed into the Miami gentlemen’s club where she worked as a VIP cocktail server and attacked her in a back room. She further claimed that there were at least four previous incidents where Davis physically assaulted her and two occasions where he threatened to kill her. The lawsuit comes two months after another one of Davis’ ex-girlfriends, who is also the mother of two of his three children, dropped a domestic violence case against him. Paul had some strong words for Davis on Monday, which he shared via his Instagram Story. “Gervonta Davis is an actual walking human piece of garbage. Working with him is an absolute nightmare. The unprofessionalism, the bizarre requests, the showing up hours late to shoots,” Paul wrote. “If you support this man you support the most vile sin a man can commit.” Paul went on to say that he didn’t “want to give this woman abuser a platform to grow his fans and to grow his bank account.” He emphasized that his own “company champions women” and called it “scary” that “devilish men like [Davis] can rise to the top of culture and sports.” READ MORE: Trump claims it’s ‘probably illegal’ for ‘Late Night’ host to mock him Netflix previously livestreamed Paul’s fight against boxing legend Mike Tyson in November 2024. According to Netflix, the Paul-Tyson fight was the most-streamed sporting event to date. Paul is already looking for his next opponent. He ended his statement about Davis with, “As for me it’s on to the next as always. Anyone. Anytime. Any place.”
