I'm A Celeb's Ant and Dec call for group of celebrities to be 'banned' from show

Ahead of I'm A Celebrity hitting our screens next week, host Ant and Dec's call for a series without one group of celebrities has resurfaced. This year marks the 25th series of I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here , which first graced our screens back in 2002. With a wild variety of stars taking on Bushtucker Trials, frightening heights and gruesome food, the ITV show has become a much loved staple of the TV calendar. From the top sporting personalities and TV presenters, to musicians and celebrities from across the pond, hundreds of terrified stars have travelled Down Under to live in the Australian jungle- this even includes politicians. Many politicians have featured in the show over the years, with a few seemingly using the platform to rehabilitate their reputations and attempt to appear more relatable to the general public. Some notable mentions include Nigel Farage , Nadine Dorris and Matt Hancock. However, hosts Ant and Dec have both previously said they would like to try out a series without any politicians in the line-up, reports the Mirror. Back in 2023, the duo were asked on Instagram if the then Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was a potential future campmate for the show. In response, Dec said: "I think we do a year without any politicians," with Ant adding: "Agreed, agreed, agreed." This call came the same year that Nigel Farage entered the jungle. Finishing in third place behind Tony Bellew and former king of the jungle Sam Thompson, it was reported that the politician was offered a fee of up to £1.5million to take part. When he joined the show, the Reform leader said: "In the jungle you're going to find the real me." He also added that he is seen as a "hero" to some and "an absolute villain" to others. The year before, Matt Hancock also finished third place. His I'm a Celeb debut followed on from the former Health Secretary having to resign after being caught kissing his advisor Gina Coladangelo in his Whitehall office on CCTV. His appearance on the show initially received some backlash, as the Conservative Party suspended the whip from him, but this was restored in 2024. Hancock's reasoning for taking on the jungle was to display his "human side" and to use the show to share his "important messages to the masses". While last year's series did not include a politician, others who have taken part in the reality show over the years include Robert Kilroy-Silk, in 2008, Nadine Dorries in 2012, Edwina Currie in 2014, and Kezia Dugdale and Stanely Johnson in 2017. Looking forward to this year's line-up, rumoured star Kelly Brook has already landed in Australia, but is currently saying she is there to visit a "distant cousin". Other celebs also rumoured to be entering the jungle are Lisa Riley, Shona McGarty, Jack Osbourne, and Vogue Williams. ITV will be formally announcing the line-up this week, with two names missed out as they will become late arrivals to shake up the camp. I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here 2025 will start at 9pm on November 16 on ITV.
