IMA state conference begins in Kozhikode

Dr. M.N. Menon and Dr. Roy R. Chandran were elected State president and secretary of the Indian Medical Association (IMA), respectively, at the 68th State conference of the association in Kozhikode on Sunday (November 9). Earlier, national president Dr. Dileep Bhanushali inaugurated the conference titled ‘IMACON 2025’. Outgoing State president Dr. K.A. Sreevilasan presided. Kozhikode MP M.K. Raghavan, who released the IMA yearbook, called for steps to ensure high security at hospitals against the backdrop of the increasing attacks on medical professionals. “In this new era, health is an enigma. Hence, I have introduced a bill in the Lok Sabha that makes health insurance mandatory for every newborn child,” Mr. Raghavan said. Thottathil Raveendran, MLA, released the souvenir published as part of the conference. In his address, he called upon the IMA to ensure that the laws for the protection of health workers were properly implemented. He also called upon doctors to be polite to patients. The members undertook an oath on the occasion. A Chendamelam performance led by Dr. T. Gopakumar was held. Awards were given to various branches of the IMA for their services.
