Families in North Lanarkshire can feel a bit safer about their children being out walking on the streets as the dark nights draw in, thanks to a housebuilder offering free high-vis vests. Miller Homes is celebrating six years of its Home Safe initiative that is helping ensure that children can bee seen when out and about this autumn and winter. In recognition of International Walk to School Month (October), the homebuilder is welcoming families along to its Stoneyetts Village development in Moodiesburn and Constarry Gardens development in Croy to collect high-visibility vests to help keep children visible on their journeys. Since launching Home Safe in 2019, Miller Homes has worked with local schools across the West of Scotland, donating over 9,000 vests to support child pedestrian safety. As daylight hours shorten and visibility on roads decrease, it can become more difficult for drivers to see pedestrians - especially young children. These vests enhance visibility giving parents the confidence when kids travel to and from school. Louise Caldwell, Sales Director for Miller Homes Scotland West, expressed her passion for the campaign, saying: “Home Safe is a brilliant initiative that directly supports local nurseries and primary schools by keeping children bright and visible during the dark winter months. "We hope that children can walk, cycle, or scoot to school more safely by wearing our high-vis vests, making them visible to drivers.” Open Thursday to Monday, 10:30am to 5:30pm, families can visit Miller Homes’ Sales Centres at the following developments to collect high-vis vests: For more information on Home Safe, visit: www.millerhomes.co.uk/promo/homesafe * Don't miss the latest headlines from around Lanarkshire.
