Storm Benjamin is expected to hit the UK today after heavily impacting areas across Belgium, France and the Netherlands. Forecasts are that heavy rain from the storm in the United Kingdom could lead to strong winds and localised flooding in several areas. These will have the potential to cause some damage and bring disruptions to travel. The Met Office has issued yellow severe weather warnings for both wind and rain as the storm arrives. Here is the expected forecast for areas within Cambridgeshire today, according to the Met Office. A yellow weather warning is in place for Cambridge today for wind and rain as some impact from the storm is forecasted to be felt. From early morning heavy rain is expected to be experienced with the temperature from 6am to 8am at ten degrees. From 9am until midday, the expected temperature will level out to 9C with expected precipitation dropping from 90 to 80%. The afternoon will see rain easing with light rain expected from 1pm onwards and temperatures staying at around nine or ten degrees heading into the evening. During this time, the chance of rain will dramatically decrease to a low of 10% at 10pm, the temperatures will lower later in the night to around seven degrees. Peterborough Heavy rain in the area is expected up until 11am when it will ease off slightly and gradually continue to fall. Early precipitation levels will be at over 95% before reducing around midday and falling away further into the evening. By 3pm, the chance of rainfall will be under 30% and the weather forecast will also see temperatures fairly steady from around 11C in the morning until 8C in the later evening periods. By 9pm, the sky will be partially cloudy, highly unlikely chances of rain and temperatures of around eight degrees before falling a further degree before midnight. Another area that will have heavy rains which will see the skies drier around midday in Ely. Lighter rain is expected in the periods not long after lunch and will continue to get drier as the afternoon progresses. From 3pm until 7pm, the skies will be overcast but precipitation likelihood will drop from 50% to under 20% as the evening comes into play. Over the course of the day, temperatures will drop from 11C down to 7C while winds will 9mph until around 23mph later in the afternoon.
