EXCLUSIVE: Gabriel Basso, star of Netflix’s global hit series The Night Agent, is making his directorial debut with Iconoclast, a character-driven psychological thriller he wrote, where he stars alongside Courtney Eaton (Yellowjackets), Noah Centineo (Warfare), Rain Spencer (The Summer I Turned Pretty), and Dasha Nekrasova (Materialists). Described as Taxi Driver for the internet age, Iconoclast follows a reclusive young man whose dangerous obsession with a live-streaming influencer increasingly erodes his grip on reality. The film is currently in production. Alex Lebovici is producing and financing through his Hammerstone Studios banner. Other producers include Centineo and Enzo Marc of Arkhum Productions, Paul Bernard of McGuffin Entertainment, and Basso. Ibrahim Mohammed and Chase Vergari of Script 2 Screen Capital, Alex Kaplunov, and Kevin G. Lee of Astria Studios are executive producing. Sacker Entertainment Law reps Hammerstone and is handling production legal. Basso is best known for starring as FBI Agent Peter Sutherland in The Night Agent, the Shawn Ryan series heading into its third season, which debuted as one of Netflix’s most-watched premieres, topping charts in 76 countries and surpassing 670 million hours viewed in its first month. He can currently be seen in Kathryn Bigelow’s political thriller A House of Dynamite — also from Netflix — and recently wrapped the romantic drama Love of Your Life opposite Margaret Qualley and the rodeo drama Cowboy with Ben Foster. Previously, Basso was seen in Clint Eastwood’s Juror #2 alongside Nicholas Hoult, as well as The Big C, Ron Howard’s Hillbilly Elegy, and The Kings of Summer. He is repped by WME, Untitled Entertainment, Range Media Partners, and Yorn, Levine, Barnes. Eaton plays a teenage Lottie in Showtime’s Yellowjackets and has also been seen in projects like Mad Max: Fury Road and Brittany Snow’s directorial debut, Parachute. She is repped by CAA, Brillstein Entertainment Partners, and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern. Like Basso, Centineo has headlined a Netflix spy thriller in Alexi Hawley’s The Recruit. He’s also been seen in A24’s Warfare and Dream Scenario and will soon be seen in Legendary/Paramount’s Street Fighter. Upcoming, he’s also set to headline a Rambo prequel from Millennium Media. He is repped by WME and Myman Greenspan Fox. One of the stars of Amazon’s The Summer I Turned Pretty, Spencer is repped by UTA, Range Media Partners, and Yorn, Levine, Barnes. Notable credits for Nekrasova include Celine Song’s A24 pic Materialists, The Beast opposite Léa Seydoux, and HBO’s Succession, to name a few. She is repped by Gersh and Gochman Law Group. Known for films like Barbarian, Flight Risk and Don’t Move, Hammerstone is currently in post on its Mark Wahlberg–Yahya Abdul-Mateen II film By Any Means, as well as At the Sea starring Amy Adams, Murray Bartlett, Dan Levy, and Chloe East.
