Stana Katic To Star In 'Entangled' Spy Drama From 'Absentia' EP

EXCLUSIVE: In an Absentia reunion, series lead Stana Katic is set to star in Entangled, a drama project created by Will Pascoe who served as executive producer and showrunner on Season 3 of the Prime Video/AXN thriller drama. Entangled is being developed by Jeff Frost, former president of Absentia studio Sony Pictures Television Studios, through his Bristol Circle Entertainment production company. Entangled is inspired by the story of real-life CIA intelligence officers Meredith and Freddie Woodruff, one of the Agency’s first undercover husband-and-wife teams, who conducted their overseas covert operations while also raising a family. Working across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, they tracked down international terrorists, recruited and handled spies and survived a sudden and violent coup in one of the countries they were stationed in. The TV series follows married couple Abby (Katic) and Jim Sullivan, deep-cover CIA officers who must juggle their responsibilities as spies and parents while stationed overseas in one of the world’s most dangerous countries. Pascoe is writing and will serve as showrunner. He executive produces alongside Frost, Katic as well as Meredith Woodruff who also will consult. Her husband, Freddie Woodruff, was killed in the line of duty in post-Soviet Georgia in 1993. Additional non-writing executive producers include John Sipher, Jerry O’Shea, and Rachel Harner of Spycraft Entertainment, a global production company committed to authentically portraying the world of espionage and intelligence. Frost also serves as an executive producer on the praised Vince Gilligan Apple TV series Pluribus from Sony TV, which premiered Nov. 7. Frost ran the indie TV studio when the project was developed there and sold to Apple with a two-season order. Pascoe was most recently a co-executive producer on NBC/Peacock’s Law & Order: Organized Crime. Other credits include Hulu’s Shut Eye and BBC America’s Orphan Black. He’s repped by Independent Artist Group, Echo Lake Entertainment, and Jackoway Austen. Katic headlined and produced Absentia, which ran for three seasons. Previously, she starred opposite Nathan Fillion in the hit ABC series Castle, winning three People’s Choice Awards for Best TV Drama Actress. Katic recently starred in the independent feature A Call to Spy, about female spies in World War II, and in The Possession of Hannah Grace for Sony Screen Gems. She’s repped by Gersh, Principal Entertainment, Nancy Seltzer & Assoc., and Nelson Davis. Spycraft Entertainment is repped by Echo Lake Entertainment and Frankfurt Kurnit Klein & Selz.
