Finland's foreign higher ed graduates often move closer to capital after studies

The number of people coming from abroad to attend higher education institutions in Finland has steadily increased — but they do not land specialist jobs as often as their Finnish counterparts. The Finnish National Agency for Education (EDUFI) presented graduate employment data to members of the media on Tuesday. The latest statistics track the employment situation of people who finished their studies in 2020, three years after graduation. Foreign graduates who studied outside of the Uusimaa region — home to the Greater Helsinki area — often moved there after their studies.
