Health and Family Welfare and Dakshina Kannada District In-charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, Mangaluru City North MLA Y. Bharath Shetty, Sullia MLA Bhagirathi Murulya, and MLC Ivan D’Souza are among the legislators who did not declare their assets before Lokayukta for 2024-25. The Lokayukta Registrar said in a press release that every public servant has to declare their assets every year by June 30 under Section 22(1) of the Karnataka Lokayukta Act. The Lokayukta submitted a report to the designated authority on August 22, giving the list of legislators who have failed to submit their declaration for 2024-25. A copy of the report was served to each of the defaulting legislators. Two more months were given to those legislators to submit their assets declaration. Since the legislators have failed to submit their declarations even after two months, the Lokayukta, under Section 22(2), has the power to publish the list of defaulting legislators in leading newspapers, the Registrar stated in the press release. The Registrar has given names of 67 MLAs and 28 MLCs who have defaulted in submitting their assets declaration for 2024-25.
