David Beckham has been approached to spearhead a takeover bid for Manchester United . The legendary midfielder spent over a decade at Old Trafford , making nearly 400 appearances. Speculation has been rife this month that United could be in line for some investment or even a full takeover. Turki Al-Sheikh initially claimed that discussions had started with a potential bidder , later clarifying that it was not Saudi Arabia showing interest. Now, an undisclosed consortium from the UAE is reportedly gearing up to make an offer for the Glazer family's majority shares. They want Beckham to act as an ambassador for the bid , rather than support it with his substantial wealth. Beckham has accumulated a significant fortune from his time on the pitch and his ventures off it. He currently holds stakes in both Inter Miami and Salford City. The Englishman's net worth is reportedly around £300million. Beckham hung up his boots in 2013 while playing for PSG, and by the time he retired, Business Insider reports he had earned a staggering £580m. At one point, he was the highest-paid player worldwide, and the groundbreaking five-year contract he signed with LA Galaxy in 2008 would be worth approximately £190m in today's money. However, the 50-year-old has added to his wealth through various endorsements and brand deals. Beckham has collaborated with brands such as Emporio Armani, Gillette, PepsiCo, H&M, Breitling and Adidas. Over the years, Beckham has also lent his name to various products, including his own fragrance line, video games, and a range of signature sunglasses. A Netflix documentary bearing his name, which aired in 2023, reportedly netted him a cool £20m. In that same year, he pulled in just over £72m from various products and brand deals. In addition to this, Beckham inked a 10-year contract to serve as an ambassador for Qatar, reportedly pocketing around £125m in total from the country. Known for his extravagant spending, Beckham also generates a significant income from his various ventures. His property portfolio boasts over a dozen properties valued at approximately £70m. This includes a luxury penthouse in Miami, purchased for £17.5m, and a London townhouse estimated to be worth about £30m. His wife, Victoria, known for her time with the Spice Girls, has a net worth of £200m. Combined, the power couple's fortune exceeds £500m. However, none of this will contribute to the consortium's potential bid. Beckham has simply been asked to serve as an ambassador.
