An American Chess GM and Stanford Graduate, Daniel Naroditsky, from he Bay Area breathed his last on Monday, his family confirmed. The 29-year-old, who earned the Grandmaster norm at the age of 18 and clinched the US National Blitz championship, passed away in an unexpected manner on Monday. We ask for privacy for Daniel’s family during this extremely difficult time,” the centre added. “Let us remember Daniel for his passion and love for the game of chess, and for the joy and inspiration he brought to us all every day,” the notice said. He published a book, Mastering Positional Chess, in 2010 when he was just 14 years old. In 2013, he won the U.S. Junior Championship and later that year earned the grandmaster title. In 2014, he was awarded the Samford Chess Fellowship, one of the most prestigious awards for young American chess masters. Over the next decade, Naroditsky continued competing in the U.S. Championships and was consistently ranked among the top 200 players in the world.
