The Save My Life Charity Gala at Benidorm Palace has raised an incredible €29,000 to support the rescue and care of abandoned and mistreated dogs across the Costa Blanca. The fourteenth annual event, held on Sunday October 26, was dedicated to Vicente Climent, the late founder of Benidorm Palace and a passionate advocate for animal welfare. The funds—€28,697.45 rounded up to €29,000 thanks to the generosity of Benidorm Palace—were gathered through ticket sales, auctions, raffles, donations, sponsorships, and Miss Ruby’s collection tins. Christine Climent, president of Save My Life and Vicente’s widow, described the evening to Euro Weekly News as “an amazing day filled with love, laughter, and generosity.” She thanked everyone who took part, saying, “We couldn’t do what we do without you—thank you, thank you, thank you.” Benidorm Palace: one of the Costa Blanca’s leading entertainment venues The gala brought together hundreds of supporters, who enjoyed dazzling performances by Miss Ruby and Paul T of The Hangover, while celebrating the enduring legacy of Vicente Climent. Known for transforming Benidorm Palace into one of the Costa Blanca’s leading entertainment venues since its opening in 1977, Vicente’s compassion for animals lives on through Save My Life, which has rescued more than 500 dogs since 2012. Christine shared a heartfelt tribute during the evening: “Vicente was so proud of the work we do. He’ll be with us in spirit, beating his drum from Heaven.” The event’s joyful spirit reflected Vicente’s philosophy: “If we make people happy, we are happy too.” From ticket sales to raffles, every effort contributed to the charity’s mission to fund adoptions, sterilisation programmes, and shelter care, working closely with groups like Somos Gos and Protectora de Animales de Benidorm. Born in 1946, he founded Benidorm Palace in 1977, transforming it into a glittering landmark that has welcomed over 16 million guests. The venue’s stage has hosted luminaries like Julio Iglesias and Alejandro Sanz, along with pageants such as Miss España. Honoured with lifetime achievement awards, including the 2023 Premis Turisme Comunitat Valenciana, Vicente was the very embodiment of hospitality, often saying, “If we make people happy, we are happy too.” Survived by Christine, son David, and daughter Joanna, his legacy of hard work and warmth continues, as tributes poured in following his death from business associates to devoted fans. Launched in 2012 amid rising animal abandonment in the region, Save My Life has rescued over 500 animals through partnerships with groups like Somos Gos and Protectora de Animales de Benidorm. Funds support adoptions, sterilisation, and shelter care—efforts Vicente championed quietly but fiercely.
