Bay County Sports Hall of Fame whoops it up with induction Class of 2025

It was a loud and proud night. That’s what happens when celebrating a lifetime achievement. The Bay County Sports Hall of Fame induction class of 2025 was enshrined Sunday before a record crowd of 360 attendees at the DoubleTree hotel and conference center as the local athletics institution expanded by eight individuals and three teams. The Hall of Fame opened its doors to its 34th class, featuring Trenton Robinson, Dave Schwartz, Jim Skrocki, Tom Herek, Jim Eurick, Denise Tasiemski Toogood and Christie Gruszynski Konieczny. The 1989 state runner-up Pinconning volleyball team, the 1991 state runner-up Bay City All Saints baseball team and the 1999 national champion Delta College softball team – which had every player represented – also joined the hallowed hall. Dinah DuRussel, the All Saints super booster who drew a standing ovation to open the night, was honored with the President’s Award. The Hall of Fame presented $1,000 scholarships to Bay City Central’s Jake Thompson, Bay City Western’s Logan Gehoski, John Glenn’s Jayna Darbee, Essexville Garber’s Cade Wallaker, Pinconning’s Jordyn Kowalczyk and All Saints’ Natalie Huiskens. The Hall of Fame also unveiled its new home at the Bay County Historical Museum, 321 Washington Ave, at an open house prior to the banquet.
