"My husband is furloughed. Our insurance is through his employment; he is unable to work any other job due to a conflict of interest. I found out I had breast cancer in August of this year. I just had a double mastectomy a week ago. I can't work while I'm recovering (I have two drainage tubes as post-surgical care). I don't know when I'll be able to go back to work. I have never asked for assistance before, but I have applied for help with our rent and some utilities. On top of all that, we have two special needs children who are receiving specialized therapy to improve their social, emotional, and behavioral health. Those are additional medical bills on top of everything else. Stressed is putting it mildly."
