A popular red wine has been pulled from shelves after safety chiefs issued an urgent health warning for a specific batch. The Food Safety Authority of Ireland is advising certain people who have purchased the affected bottle to stop drinking it immediately. The recall affects a specific batch of Vale View Schuyler Irish Grown Red Wine 2023. It was found to contain sulphur dioxide , which is not listed in the ingredients. A 'do not drink' warning has been issued to people who are allergic to or intolerant of sulphur dioxide, as the ingredient could pose serious health risks. The FSAI said: "The above batch of Vale View Schuyler Irish Grown Red Wine contains sulphur dioxide which is not declared in the list of ingredients. This may make the batch unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of sulphur dioxide and therefore, these consumers should not drink the implicated batch. The affected batch is being recalled . " The affected bottles have the batch code 2023Sch01. Sulphur dioxide is commonly used as a preservative in wine and other foods. People who are allergic or intolerant may experience symptoms such as headaches, wheezing, coughing, shortness of breath, skin rashes, hives or nausea. In severe cases, it can trigger an asthma attack or other serious reactions. For the latest news and breaking news visit irishmirror.ie/news .
