EXCLUSIVE: Aimee Carrero (Your Friends and Neighbors) is closing out a banner year with a leading role in the as-yet-untitled home invasion film from Lionsgate and Talking Pictures’ horror label Midnight Pictures. The indie horror-thriller is currently in production in Los Angeles with Julian Labrádor directing and producing. He also co-wrote the screenplay alongside Owen Egerton, with revisions by Nathan Elston. The project follows Lorena Riveras (Carrero), whose mind is focused on her 12-year-old son’s safety after a recent accident. This is why their home security system is so crucial. It keeps a watchful eye on him when she can’t. But when surprise attackers appear, the cameras can only watch as masked invaders stalk mother and son in a real-time home invasion nightmare. Producers also include Tabitha Shick for Talking Pictures, and Andre Fonseca, with Jeff Robinov and Dan Clifton executive producing. Lauren Bixby, Scott O’Brien, and Allison Lynch are overseeing the project on behalf of the studio. Carrero recently concluded work on her second season on the Apple TV series Your Friends and Neighbors, working opposite Jon Hamm and Amanda Peet. Since Season 1, Carrero has played Elena, who works closely with Mark Tallman’s former footballer character Nick. She also had a recurring role in the Prime Video series The Consultant, led by Christoph Waltz. On the film side, Carrero led the action comedy feature Code 3, alongside Rainn Wilson and Lil Rel Howery, which was released in September. In 2022, she starred opposite Ralph Fiennes, Anya Taylor-Joy, and John Leguizamo in the horror comedy film The Menu, directed by Mark Mylod. Carrero is represented by Gersh, 3 Arts Entertainment, and Skrzyniarz & Mallean.
