'Govt Jobs, Old Pension Scheme': Mahagathbandhan Makes Big Promises in 'Bihar Ka Tejashwi Prann' Manifesto

Patna: The opposition bloc Mahagathbandhan in Bihar on Tuesday released its manifesto titled ‘Bihar Ka Tejashwi Prann’ for next month’s Bihar Assembly elections, promising a government job to one member of every family in the state, bringing back the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) among others. Releasing the manifesto, RJD leader and Mahagathbandhan's Chief Ministerial face Tejashwi Yadav termed it as a roadmap for the development of Bihar and a resolution to make the state number one. During the manifesto launch, Tejashwi Yadav, Deputy CM candidate and Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) chief Mukesh Sahani, Congress leader Pawan Khera and CPI(ML)'s Dipankar Bhattacharya were present at the event. However, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who campaigned in the state alongside Tejashwi Yadav during his 'Vote Adhikaar Yatra', was not present at the manifesto launch. Congress leader Pawan Khera said that the Opposition's alliance was the first to announce its Chief Ministerial candidate, Tejashwi Yadav, and the first to release its manifesto. Taking a jibe at the ruling NDA, Khera called their poll promises "jumla." However, key Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was not present at the Mahagathbandhan's manifesto launch. In a statement, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav said, "...Not only do we have to form the government in Bihar, we also have to make a new Bihar... The Mahagathbandhan alliance has released the Sankalp Patra for Bihar..." "...Today is a special day for all of us, not just to form a government but to build Bihar. Our goal is not merely political power; it is to create a better Bihar. How will we build it? What is our vision, our roadmap, our blueprint? We have always worked with the people of Bihar in mind. It is a matter of great joy that today, all of us, the partners in the Mahagathbandhan, have come together to present our Sankalp Patra (manifesto) before the people of Bihar. This is our collective pledge, a commitment of both our parties and our hearts, to make Bihar the number one state. Each promise in this manifesto is a heartfelt vow, and even if it requires us to give our all, our very life’s breath, we will fulfill every single pledge we have made," Tejashwi Yadav said. "We have announced the CM's face as well. Today, we are going to release the 'Tejashwi Pran Patra' on how we are going to work for the next 5 years. We want NDA to announce the name of their CM. What schemes do they have? What is their vision, and how are they going to take Bihar forward? We have given a roadmap, a vision, and we are clear that we will make Bihar number one. They only speak negative things and make allegations about our leaders," Tejashwi Yadav told reporters.
