Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed the officials to ensure completion of construction of the Osmania General Hospital within two years. Construction of the health facility has began at the beginning of the month [October 2025]. Spread on 26 acres, it would have a built up area of 32 lakh sq. ft. The Government has taken the construction of the new state-of-the-art hospital prestigiously and steps should be taken to see that the hospital is equipped with all modern facilities, he said, adding that plans should be prepared to ensure that the OGH meets the emerging requirements. Infra at new OGH The Chief Minister reviewed the progress of construction of the new premises with senior officials on Wednesday (October 22, 2025). The new hospital building is being constructed in Goshamahal, Hyderabad, with an estimated cost of over ₹2,000 crore and the new facility, according to preliminary plans, will be a 2,000 bed complex with advanced features like robotic surgery capabilities, dedicated academic block and separate hostels for students. Along with equipment, the hospital should have facilities for classrooms, labs and other infrastructure. Steps should be taken to ensure that locals were not inconvenienced because of the construction activity, said Mr. Reddy. Accordingly, a coordination committee with officials of Health, Police, GHMC, Roads & Buildings and Energy departments should be constituted to oversee the construction works. The committee should meet once every 10 days to review the status of construction and resolve problems if any, he said. The police department, on its part, should plan issues relating to bandobust, traffic movement and related issues in advance. Planning for the new complex should encompass its connectivity from different parts of the city, said the Chief Minister. Mr. Reddy directed the officials to depute senior officials each entrusted with the responsibility of construction of hospitals in different districts as well as medical colleges coming up in different parts of the State. The officials should be tasked with supervision of the construction on 24X7 basis and the construction of the new buildings should be completed before June next year.
