WWE is set to lose out on two of its biggest stars in the span of a year as two legendary wrestlers are set to call time on their careers. 17-time World Champion John Cena is the first of them as he is set to hang up his boots next month after a year-long retirement tour.Joining him in retirement will be his most recent opponent, AJ Styles, who recently announced that he will end his in-ring career next year. Both of them had one of the best matches of their careers against each other at WWE Crown Jewel 2025, and will go down in history as greats of the professional wrestling business.Talking in an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling, John Cena Sr. opened up on the retirement of his son and AJ Styles. He said that both of them are individuals who want to give the fans everything they've got, and once they realized that they can't perform at the level they used to anymore, they decided to hang up their boots."The one thing I can always hear him say, he said it to me, he said it to the fans a thousand times, when I can't go the way I used to and give you what I used to, then it's time for me to think about retiring. And regardless of the fact that his body is now saying, Whoa, stop. AJ Styles made it very clear when he said, I'm retiring because I want to be able to walk away from this business. And so John always gave, like Styles and the rest of those people in this business, I can't praise them enough, 250 percent. And it's a point now where you can't go 250, you might go 175. And I think that both of them realise that it's time now," John Cena Sr. said.John Cena kick-started his retirement tour in WWE back in January and had some iconic moments during this year-long run. Rumors are circulating that the company is planning a similar tour for AJ Styles, and we could see the two-time WWE Champion revisit some of his iconic feuds over the course of the next year. Please credit Sportskeeda Wrestling and embed the YouTube video if you use quotes from this article.
