The New York Yankees failed to replicate their 2024 World Series run this postseason, losing to the Toronto Blue Jays in the American League Division Series. Former Yankees infielder Alex Rodriguez had some key guidance for the team.Rodriguez has been a vocal critic of how the Yankees have gone about their business in recent years. He has slammed the team for failing to provide credible support to Aaron Judge, while also maintaining that New York's over-dependence on analytics has been a reason for their downfall.Speaking during the premiere screening of the HBO documentary ALEX vs. AROD, on Tuesday, Rodriguez noted that the team needed stability by fixing its core group of players.“If you see a lot of the teams that do well in October, you see the same guys coming back," Rodriguez said via NY Post. "We lost in ’04, and it took five years with the same core to get it right. But if you switch everything out every year, it’s hard to get that continuity that you need. Continuity is synonymous with championships.”Despite the absence of long-term planning at present, the three-time former MVP hopes that the management led by Brian Cashman, in his 29th year as General Manager of the club, gets it right.“We saw the greatest World Series in my lifetime,” Rodriguez added. “You saw the level of play was at an all-time, exquisite level. I believe in the Yankees. There’s no bigger fan than me [of] the Yankees. I wish I could say I love everything they’re doing. But I’m hoping they get it right and I have faith they will get it right.”The Yankees came three games away, last year, from breaking a fifteen-year World Series drought. That streak, which has extended to 16 seasons, is tied for the second-longest in franchise history after 2025.Alex Rodriguez states Dodgers are the standard for the MLB to followThe Los Angeles Dodgers became the first back-to-back champions in 25 years, as they beat the Blue Jays in the World Series in seven games. According to A-Rod, their model can be taken as a benchmark for New York and the rest of the league.“They’re separating themselves from the world,” Rodriguez said. “They’re incredible. They have incredible resources, but they’re deploying it in a beautiful way.”The Dodgers had spent $350 million on their players, without luxury tax implications. The Yankees had a $304 million payroll, yet there was a significant difference in the quality of both teams, which also translated into the results during the postseason.
