The Indian entertainment industry is in grief after renowned actor Satish Shah died on 25 October at the age of 74. Satish Shah has left a legacy of humour, wit, and an unrivalled contribution to Indian television and movies. Satish Shah’s career lasted over four decades, and he worked in theatre, film, and television. His precise comic timing and subtle acting skills made him a renowned name in the industry. Here are some of his works that will be remembered for years to come- Ye Jo Hai Zindagi– A 1984 DD National sitcom, based around the hilarious incidents in the lives of a married couple performed by actors Shafi Inamdar and Swaroop Sampat. Satish was well-known for his role in this show, as he played a different character in each episode as per the show’s format. Sarabhai Vs Sarabhai– Satish portrayed the popular character of Indravadan, an ex-director of a global corporation who regularly picks on Maya and Rosesh while always siding with Monisha in the event of a squabble between her and his wife. The audience adored the cult classic sitcom, which also starred Ratna Pathak Shah, Sumeet Raghavan, Rupali Ganguly, and Rajesh Kumar for its impeccable comic timing and sarcastic wit. Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro– This 1983 Indian Hindi-language satirical comedy film, directed by Kundan Shah, is a dark parody on corruption in Indian politics, bureaucracy, news media, and business, as well as celebrities. Satish played a corrupt municipal commissioner named D’Mello. Main Hoon Na– In Shah Rukh Khan’s film, the actor plays Professor Rasai, a Physics teacher who spits while lecturing and has a short temper. The actor was praised for portraying the character flawlessly. Kal Ho Na Ho– Satish Shah portrayed Kursann Bhai Patel in Kal Ho Naa Ho, a fun-loving and compassionate father who brought comedy to the emotional plot. His upbeat personality and soft humour provided contrast to the film’s solemn themes of love and death. Even alongside stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta, and Saif Ali Khan, Satish Shah established himself as a notable performer.
