One of the upsides to joining a new service early is that you can get a handle that you want. If you try registering a new Gmail account today, chances are you won’t be able to get what you want. The same can be said about X. But the good news is that you might be able to get what you want as X has launched a marketplace for inactive handles. X launches marketplace for inactive handles Right now, the inactive marketplace for handles on X is broken into two categories. One is for “priority handles,” which is free and “often include full names, multi-word phrases, or alphanumeric combinations.” There is also another category for rare handles. This is a paid option and could be priced anywhere between $2,500 to over seven figures. The final price is reportedly determined by demand and uniqueness. This means that if you want an X handle that is your full name, you might be able to get it for free. However, if you want something short and sweet and unique, you might have to pay for it. According to the company, “The X Handle Marketplace is our industry-first solution to redistribute handles that are no longer in use.” But there’s a catch We can appreciate what X is trying to do here, but as always, there’s a catch. The biggest catch here is that you must be a Premium Plus or Premium Business subscriber to take part in this marketplace. If you’re a free user, then too bad, you’ll have to stick with your current handle or pay for a subscription if you really want something a bit more special. Also, if you’re worried that someone else might take your old handle after you’ve switched it, don’t worry. According to X, your old handle will be frozen once you secure your new handle. But like we said, there’s a catch. If you downgrade your X subscription, your account will go back to your original username.
