WWE Wants to Sign Fan-Favorite Superstar to New Contract: Report

Although Dragon Lee came up short in his match against Dominik Mysterio at AAA Héroes Inmortales, the performance itself might be leading to significant developments in his WWE career. Reports suggest that Lee made a strong impression on WWE officials during the AAA Mega Championship bout. According to PWInsider, WWE management was “very impressed” with Dragon Lee’s showing in Mexico. This positive reception has reportedly led to a push within the company to secure Lee on a new contract well before his current deal expires sometime next year. Lee and Mysterio had a well-received match, and even though Lee didn’t win the AAA title, his performance apparently boosted his standing internally within WWE. Dragon Lee initially signed with WWE in late 2022. After a period of finding his footing within the company, his momentum has noticeably increased recently. Just last week, on the October 20th episode of Monday Night Raw, Lee achieved a career milestone by capturing the WWE World Tag Team Championships alongside AJ Styles. This title win represents a significant step forward for him on the main roster. The feeling within WWE, according to the report, is that Lee is evolving into an essential component of their regular television programming. More news: WWE Superstar Announces Retirement Match There’s internal discussion noted the importance of securing him to a new contract now, potentially preempting interest or offers from other promotions as his current deal nears its end. While Dragon Lee didn’t leave AAA Héroes Inmortales with the Mega Championship, he undoubtedly captured the attention of key decision-makers within WWE. The company reportedly views him as a valuable asset and appears intent on ensuring he remains part of their roster for the foreseeable future. As one-half of the newly crowned WWE World Tag Team Champions with AJ Styles, Dragon Lee finds himself holding gold heading into WWE’s next Premium Live Event, Saturday Night’s Main Event, on November 1st. While no Tag Team Championship defense has been announced for the Salt Lake City show, Lee and Styles could potentially be involved. Following that, Survivor Series: WarGames looms on November 29th. Given AJ Styles’ veteran status and Lee’s rising profile, the new champions could play a role in the event, possibly defending their titles or even participating in one of the WarGames matches depending on storyline developments over the coming weeks.
