WWE Legend Provides Major Surgery Update

A WWE Hall of Famer and all-time great within professional wrestling revealed the big decision he made regarding another surgery. While competing within WWE and TNA, the legendary Kurt Angle repeatedly put his body at risk, much like many other longtime stars in the industry. During a recent appearance on “The Ariel Helwani Show,” Angle spoke about how he’s been doing since retirement, indicating he’s had several surgeries and will need to have another. “I had my knees replaced, and that was a blessing. No pain in my knees, they’re great,” he said, adding, “I had a surgery on my lower back, it didn’t work, but I started doing core training, and guess what? It worked.” Read more: WWE Star John Cena Gets Strong Words From AEW’s Tony Khan “I have to have my shoulders replaced, and I’m not looking forward to that. Actually, the doctor said to me, ‘Listen. These are fifty-fifty. Some people benefit from it, some people don’t,'” Angle shared. According to the WWE legend, his doctor suggested that he might want to hold off on getting his shoulder surgery now, because with technology improving quickly, a better option will likely be available in the next few years. Angle mentioned that he does what he can in the gym to stay functional, but he keeps the weights low due to his shoulder situation and avoids gaining weight to protect his knee replacements for longer. He officially retired from in-ring competition in 2019 due to his age and the extensive body damage he sustained. He shared what he’s doing with all that free time away from wrestling. “I’m doing good. Been hanging a lot with my wife and kids. Been getting to know my family, because I was away all these years doing professional wrestling and everything else. So it’s been really nice to spend time with my kids, seeing them grow up,” Angle told Helwani. In addition, he has been working with Real American Freestyle, also known as RAF, a mainstream freestyle wrestling program. Angle indicated that Hulk Hogan spoke to him about being part of it before his death, and the RAF co-owner continued the process to get Angle on board. The promotion’s Real American Freestyle 2 event arrives on Saturday. It’s worth noting that there was significant fan demand for Angle to return for John Cena’s final match before retirement, since he was part of Cena’s career launch in WWE. However, Angle shut down the speculation, indicating there’s no way he’s getting into a ring for a wrestling match at this point in his life.
