WWE Fuels Speculation With Another Chris Jericho Tease

WWE continues to generate discussion regarding John Cena’s final opponent for his December 13th match at “Saturday Night’s Main Event.” The match will take place at the Capital One Arena in Washington, DC. Cena’s opponent will be decided by a 16-man tournament set to begin on upcoming weekly shows. “The Cenation Leader” himself stated the bracket could include stars from “Raw,” “SmackDown,” “NXT,” or even people not currently working in WWE. One name frequently discussed by fans is Edge, who is currently signed to All Elite Wrestling as Adam Copeland. He has been away from AEW television to handle Hollywood responsibilities, but WWE amplified this discussion by recently posting a rivalry history video on YouTube. This time around, WWE has amplified speculation that Chris Jericho might be the one who would be Cena’s retirement opponent. The company recently posted their full match from the 2008 “Survivor Series” event. More news: WWE Superstar Announces Retirement Match The AEW star has been with that promotion since 2019 but is currently absent from television. This tease is notable, as Jericho’s AEW contract expiration is reportedly around December of this year. Fans last saw John Cena in action at the 2025 “Crown Jewel” event in Perth, Australia, where he defeated AJ Styles. The match was highly regarded, as both men paid tribute to stars who helped their respective careers. Wrestler Chris Jericho shared a video of his niece being bullied at school and is urging the district to take action. Here, Jericho attends the AEW panel during 2019 New York Comic Con October 4, 2019 in New York City. The Phenomenal One, who is also set for retirement next year, performed several moves from TNA stars, like Sting’s Scorpion Death Drop. As for the 17-time World Champion, he utilized several finishers of his former rivals, including Chris Jericho’s submission move, the Walls of Jericho. While WWE continues to tease major AEW stars, recent reports suggest neither Chris Jericho nor Adam Copeland will be in the tournament. Jericho’s AEW contract runs through December 2025, and WWE sources feel it is “far too early to tell” about a return. It is speculated the non-WWE participant will more likely be someone like Matt Cardona. “ The Last Time Is Now Tournament” is scheduled to begin on the November 10th episode of “Raw” from Boston, with the first-round matches of Sheamus vs. Shinsuke Nakamura and Damian Priest vs. Rusev already announced.
