The Los Angeles Dodgers are basking in back-to-back World Series championships. However, the front office had several decisions to make early in the offseason. More news: Dodgers Reliever Sends Message to Alex Vesia After World Series Win One of those decisions was whether to bring back left-handed reliever Alex Vesia on a $3.55 million club option, which the team confirmed on Thursday ahead of the deadline. The Dodgers reliever will stay in LA for the 2026 season. Vesia was not with the team for the Fall Classic due to a “deeply personal family matter.” The Dodgers announced the left-hander would not be on the World Series roster, but shared they would provide an update at a later date. While the two baseball powerhouses clashed on the biggest stage, there was a sense of unity between the two organizations that exuded a sentiment bigger than baseball. During the Fall Classic, Blue Jays relievers sported a No. 51 on their hats as a heartfelt tribute to Vesia and his family. Manager Dave Roberts spoke about Toronto’s show of support amid the heartbreaking news. “It’s everything,” Roberts said following World Series Game 6. “I didn’t learn that until after the game last night, and I think it really speaks to the brotherhood of athletes, Major League Baseball players. They’ll all say that ‘baseball is what we do but its not who we are,’ and for these guys to recognize Alex, and what he and Kayla have gone through, heartbreaking is not even a good enough descriptor. “But for them to acknowledge that, it just speaks to how much respect and love that they have for one another. It’s a huge, huge tribute to Alex.” The Dodgers celebrated their World Series title with the city of Los Angeles Monday, but Vesia was not present for the parade. However, the front office has made it clear that the left-hander will be with the team for the 2026 season.
