Video shows the moment a woman smashes a bottle in the street and prepares to plunge it into the neck of a man standing nearby. The shocking incident played out on a busy shopping street as members of the public went about their business. Moments after Cassie Evans smashed the bottle on a bin she used the makeshift weapon to stab someone in a bloody assault which WalesOnline is not showing. The victim suffered a gash to his neck. For the latest court stories sign up to our crime newsletter John Philpotts, prosecuting, told Mold Crown Court that the incident happened on August 18 this year when Evans was among a group of people who had gathered near benches in Lord Street in Wrexham city centre. He said when some teenagers approached the group "tensions rose" and Evans - who had drunk a litre of gin before leaving the house that day - became "angry and agitated". After breaking the bottle, the defendant plunged it into the neck of a man called Aled Roberts. Police were called and Evans was arrested while Mr Roberts was taken to hospital where the wound was cleaned and closed with steri strips. The prosecutor told the court: "It was a determined assault. It seems that the defendant was intent on inflicting a significant wound." Cassie Evans, aged 34, of Watery Road, Wrexham, had previously pleaded guilty to wounding with intent and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. With a discount for her guilty pleas she was sentenced to 32 months in prison. The defendant will serve half the sentence in custody before being released on licence to serve the remainder in the community.
